Professional and hobby bikers hop, here in Caldaro, gladly on the bike.
We offer you, with our maintained new E-Bikes and a small bike repair station, a perfect infrastructure for excellent bike tours. While the ones try bravely to finish the steep Mendelpass, the others shop in the nearby Neumarkt or Tramin and enjoy an Espresso, an Aperol Spritz or a local wine.

The Rastenbachklamm

The hike through the Rastenbachklamm, over bridges and steps, is taking you to a wild and romantic nature. While the sun „burns“ down on the vines, the cool steam is coming down the ravine.

A steel way is leading next to a waterfall, over wooden stairs, through a secured ravine all the way to Altenburg (ital. Castelvecchio), where you find the St. Vigilius church from the middle ages and a breathtaking view over the Caldaro lake and the valley.

Through Caldaros Tröpfeltal (Tröpfelvalley)

The Tröpfeltal (valley) is located near Caldaros Mitterdorf.
The way starts from the parking lot at the Major-von-Morandell square and continues towards the castel Campan, over the “Garnellen” way to the woods. We follow the left shore from the Tröpfl stream and the mark 17 uphill, cross the stream and continue the steel street towards Mendelpass. From here, you can choose either to follow the street to de Caldaro “Höhe” and from there back to St. Nikolaus or you go the same way back through the woods. The kids like this little hiking tour.

The Mendel and the Roen

This hiking tour is perfect for the „lazy“ types. The „Mendelbahn“ (ropeway) takes you, in just 12 minutes, to Caldaro’s “home mountain” Mendel. This ropeway was built 115 years ago, is 2,5 km long and a height difference from 854m. The view from the mountain ropeway station is so breathtaking, that you almost need another beer, to get back to reality.

Explore Caldaro’s vineyards – on the wine trail to Caldaro

The wine lovers will enjoy this 8 shaped wine hiking trail. It takes you all the way to the positions where the „Vial“, „Prunar“, „Puntara and „Palurisch“ and other famous Kellerei Kaltern wines grow.
How do you recognize where which wine grows? Easy! You see the bronze boards on the floor which mark the position of the vines, used for the marked wine.
